NM vets to visit World War II Memorial

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – More than two dozen World War II veterans from northern New Mexico are getting the flight of a lifetime.

The veterans departed from the Sunport on Wednesday bound for Washington, D.C.

They will visit the national World War II Memorial thanks to the honor flight network.

The honor flight program allows veterans to visit Washington, D.C. free of charge to thank them for their service.

The veterans will return Friday. There’s an effort to get a welcome party gathered for them at 4 p.m.
