ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A Michigan man drove 1,600 miles across the country with his dead girlfriend in the passenger seat.
It wasn’t until he was in New Mexico that he realized she was dead.
Ray Tomlinson, 62, left his Michigan home last week for Arizona to pick up his girlfriend.
Tomlinson says his girlfriend had just checked out of a mental health facility and was on several meds when they hit the road heading back to Michigan.
But it wasn’t until he was in New Mexico when he noticed she wouldn’t wake up.
Tomlinson never stopped, never called for help, instead he propped her body up and put sunglasses on her face and stuffed animal in her lap.
The man is not in police custody and no charges have been filed.
