Jefferson reopens following fatal crash

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – All lanes on Jefferson from Osuna to Ellison are open again after a fatal crash involving a stolen motorcycle closed the area for a few hours Tuesday morning.

Police say the man riding the motorcycle was traveling fast on Jefferson and ended up striking the center median while turning. The man was thrown from the motorcycle and landed on the southbound lanes of Jefferson, then was struck by another vehicle and died at the scene.

The driver who hit the motorcyclist called 911 and cooperated with police. Charges are not expected in this incident, according to APD.

Investigators are unsure if alcohol was a factor.
