John’s Monday Evening Forecast

An area of high pressure will sit on top of the state the next few days. This will ensure plenty of sunshine for much of the workweek, but it will also crank up the heat. Afternoon highs in Albuquerque will be pushing 100° the next several days. We will likely set new record highs Tuesday and Wednesday with temperatures about 15° above average. Meanwhile, temps across the south will soar well into the 100s.

The hot and dry weather, combined with breezy conditions midweek, will lead to an elevated fire danger. Red Flag Warnings are currently posted over the northern two-thirds of the state for Tuesday. Moisture works into the east for Thursday and Friday. Unfortunately it appears it will only be enough to produce some dry thunderstorms. Dry lightning from these storms will compound the fire weather concerns late week. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
