ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The woman shot while behind the wheel near Paseo and Unser on Friday is at home recovering. In the meantime, police say the person who pulled the trigger is still out there.
It is still unknown if the shooting was random or targeted.
For those who work and drive in the area, the feelings are mixed.
“Now you don’t want to drive anywhere,” Donna Neubeck said. “You’re not safe basically to be in your car driving. It’s nerve wracking sometimes.”
Donna Neubeck works at an accounting firm near where the shooting happened and she says after hearing the news Friday, she was shocked.
The bullet went through the woman’s windshield, hitting her in the face.
Police said it’s too soon to tell if this was targeted or random, where the shooter may have been or if the bullet ricocheted before hitting the driver.
Witnesses told investigators they saw a man standing on a bridge near where the shooting happened.
Not everyone, though, is worried about the idea of that shooter being on the loose.
“Does it scare me? No,” Sherry Tharp said. “I still live my life every day to do what I do. What other people do, you can’t control.”
Police said they do not have a description of the shooter but they will conduct a follow-up interview with the victim Monday afternoon. They also said the woman is home and that she was never in critical condition.
If you have any information on this, police are asking the public for tips.
