City Council may create mental health task force

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The problem with how Albuquerque police officers deal with people with mental illness has been a topic of debate, especially since the March shooting of homeless man James Boyd.

City councilors could decide Monday whether a task force will be created to tackle mental health issues in Albuquerque.

The task force would be comprised of city leaders and representatives from agencies who work with people with mental illness. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
