Jal officer linked to chief sex tape fired

JAL, N.M. (KRQE) – The police chief was captured by a secret camera doing something pornographic on city property.

But, it’s one of his officers who is getting fired for it, for planting the camera.

On Special Assignment, Kim holland showed you the video last month.

Jal Police Chief Larry burns was secretly recorded having sex inside and up against an ambulance on city property, on two different occasions.

Burns also oversaw the EMT department in Jal.

The video was then sent to the Interim City Manager Bob Gallagher who suspended burns without pay for two weeks.

The city then investigated and they say it was Police Sergeant Joshua Terrell who planted the camera.

Gallagher says Terrell made it known he didn’t like the chief and wanted to sabotage the chief’s current run for magistrate judge in Jal.

Gallagher says the officer who planted the camera violated eight different policies including using a key to get into the ambulance barn when he didn’t belong there..

And that Terrell is not protected as a whistleblower because he released the video to the public.

Sergeant Terrell had been with the department for about seven years.

KRQE News 13 asked the city why Chief Burns wasn’t fired, Gallagher says what the chief did was not criminal and there
