Fight leads to Hobbs teen’s death

HOBBS, N.M. (KRQE) – A fight in Hobbs led to the death of a teenager.

Officers responded to the area of Selman and Byers just before 11:30 Thursday night after reports of a fight in progress.

Daniel Garcia, 16, had been shot during the altercation.

He was airlifted to a hospital in Lubbock where he died.

Deandre Gonzales, 18, was arrested on an open count of murder.

And a 17-year-old was also arrested.
