Early crash slows morning commute on I-40 EB


ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Traffic reopened I-40 eastbound Friday morning after a crash involving a semi and a car.

The crash occurred around 3:30 Friday morning at I-40 and Sixth Street, causing the interstate to shut down. Police said the car was attempting to pass on the shoulder.

The driver of the car was seriously injured and was transported to the hospital.

Police said the driver is being investigated for alcohol and possible drug use.

I-40 eastbound has since reopened.
