New sharks join BioPark Aquarium

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Aquarium’s shark tank has some new residents, two new sandbar sharks that are about five feet long.

Both are females that had outgrown their tanks back in Arizona.

They arrived last Friday by a special truck designed to carry marine animals.

Sandbar sharks live in coastal regions around the world and are considered threatened because of overfishing.

They can live between 19 and 21 years and may grow to roughly seven feet.
