ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE)- Senator Tom Udall hopes an expanded investigation into the Department of Veteran Affairs can be finished by August.
Federal investigators are looking into allegations that VA schedulers were ordered to falsify patient appointment records at the VA Medical Center in Albuquerque and other VA facilities around the U.S.
There’s accusations this was done in an effort to make it appear patients were being seen sooner than they were.
According to the Albuquerque Journal, after Udall learned this information he and the senate appropriations committee pushed to halt a VA bonus program for executives and gave a third-party investigator the funds for an expanded investigation.
Udall called the delays in veterans’ medical care “a betrayal.”
