John’s Wednesday Afternoon Forecast

Today will be very much like yesterday. Expect mainly dry and hot weather across much of the state. The higher terrain will be favored again today for some spot showers and storms. Coverage improves Thursday as we tap into some southerly moisture from Tropical Storm Amanda. This setup will improve shower and storm coverage across the state through at least Saturday. However, don’t expect a repeat of Memorial Day weekend. A ridge of high pressure will still be over the state at the upper levels. The moisture we get will sneak in at the mid and lower levels. This should prevent widespread severe weather.

A storm is going to set up to the west. While it will aid in drawing up the moisture initially, as it starts to move toward the state late in the weekend and early next week, it will start to draw in dry air. As this happens we will see fewer storms and more wind for early next week. This will lead to critical fire weather conditions as temperatures also heat back up. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
