ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Tuesday, Albuquerque police released the names of the two officers who shot and killed a man last week.
The officers are Ryan Graves and Brian Fuchs.
In an audio recording released by APD, the officers can be heard telling the man to drop his knife before they opened fire.
The officers fired six shots at 37-year-old Ralph Chavez, who is known on the streets as Antonio.
It happened at Second Street near I-40 Thursday night, when police say Chavez attacked and possibly raped his girlfriend.
Investigators say when a man passing by tried to intervene, Chavez cut his throat.
Officers Graves and Fuchs remain on administrative leave.
They have not been involved in any previous police shootings and both have been with APD since 2009.
