Questions remain after man found severely injured

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A southwest Albuquerque neighborhood is looking for answers after a man was sent to the hospital in critical condition.

Police found 65-year-old Richard Zarate Tuesday night inside his home near 114th Street, just south of Central. They say Zarate was found by a relative who had not heard from him for two days.

How he got those injuries remains a mystery.

Police have not released the man’s name yet and are only saying he remains in critical condition.

Neighbors said he was beaten up inside of his home and that the only thing missing was a TV. One neighbor said the man was quiet and kept mostly to himself.

Police couldn’t say if this was a burglary gone bad and they also couldn’t say where the man was injured.

Detectives are still working on gathering information.
