Beggin promoted to assistant coach

ALBUQURQUE (KRQE) – Amy Beggin calls it her dream job.

When Yvonne Sanchez needed to fill a coaching vacancy she looked no further than the former Lobo already on staff as Director of Operations. Beggin is now a Lobos assistant coach.

“I wanted the job really badly and I told Sanchez I wanted the job, said Beggin. “Just to have the opportunity is awesome. It’s a dream come true. It really is.”

With her promotion she can do more than just watch from the sideline. Beggin, known for her competitive fire, can now get on the court and motivate current players.

“We got a pretty good team that we are really excited about coming in next year, said Sanchez.”You know to have Amy be on the floor and part of that I think it’s going to translate to those kids wanting to get better every day.”

As a player Beggin was a three time All Mountain West point guard. She is also one of 17 former Lobos to reach a thousand points in her career.
