Police ID victims in Silver City plane crash

SILVER CITY, N.M. (KRQE) – Three victims of Friday’s deadly plane crash in Silver City have been identified and all three were high school students.

Ella Kirk, Michael Mahl and Ella Myers attended Aldo Leopold High School in Silver City.

The school posted photos of the victims on its Facebook page Monday.

The single-engine plane was trying to land at an airport in Silver City on Friday when it suddenly crashed and burst into flames. It’s still not clear what caused it to go down.

A fourth person – the plane’s pilot – was also killed. That victim’s identity hasn’t been released, but the Las Cruces Sun-News says the plane belonged to an Albuquerque psychiatrist.
