Memorial Day Parade

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – In Rio Rrancho, people celebrated Memorial Day with a parade and ceremony.

The parade started at 10 a.m. and went down Southern from Country Club Drive to Pinetree Road.

“It means freedom, it means the beautiful city that we live in, it means the beautiful weather that we have here in Rio Rancho and New Mexico,” said parade participant Fred Kellogg. “It’s really good to be here and to know that there are people out there trying to protect us.”

Right after the parade at about 11 a.m., there was a special ceremony at Veterans Monument Park.

Another Memorial Day ceremony will take place Monday at the New Mexico Veterans Memorial. There was a musical prelude there Monday morning followed by the ceremony which runs until 1 p.m. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
