Poll shows King as leading Democrat for governor

AG Gary King still in race for governor

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – As we inch closer to the June primary, a recent poll puts Attorney General Gary King at the top of the leader board.

According to a new Albuquerque Journal poll, King appears to have a slight edge among Democrats running for the governor’s seat.

The poll found King has a 6 point lead, or 22 percent of the votes.

Former government administrator Lawrence Rael and businessman Alan Webber both came in with 16 percent.

Sen. Howie Morales came in with 12 percent and Sen. Linda Lopez with 5 percent.

The Journal reports more than a quarter of Democratic voters are still undecided in the poll that was conducted by phone.

The June primary is less than two weeks away.

The winner will take on Republican Gov. Susanna Martinez, who has no opponent in the GOP primary.
