Vintage truck stolen from traveler

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A thief makes off with a traveler’s truck and trailer.

But it’s the precious cargo inside that has the victim really upset, a vintage truck painstakingly restored.

A California woman who restores cars was on her way to Texas to deliver a truck she’s worked on for three years only to have it, along with her own truck stolen while she was sleeping.

Aimee Cambra arrived in Albuquerque late last night and checked into a hotel at Coors and Iliff.

With no room left in the parking lot, hotel employees told her there was room across the street in an empty, vacant lot.

Cambra backed her truck up to a tree, making it tough for someone to break into the trailer and steal her customer’s truck.

But when she woke up this morning, ready to hit the road, Cambra peeked out her window only to find her entire rig missing.

Cambra says the truck belonged to her late father. The ’46 ford pickup was for a customer a birthday present from his late wife.

“When somebody passes away, you don’t have a whole lot left and he was a pick car guy and it was his truck, the last truck that he drove, and his trailer and I was using it to deliver this truck and so, you not only lose something sentimental to somebody else, you lose your own personal stuff,” Cambra said.

Cambra says she plans to stay the night Saturday and possibly again Sunday night hoping there’s a break in the case.

If you have any information about the trucks or trailer, contact APD immediately.
