Lightning sparks 2 fires in Lincoln National Forest

LINCOLN NATIONAL FOREST, N.M. (KRQE) – Firefighters are responding to two new fires in Lincoln National Forest.

According to fire officials the Hinchley Fire and the Bear Fire were started by overnight lightning storms.

The Hinchley Fire is located approximately 11 miles south of Capitan, N.M. just south of the Capitan Mountains Wilderness and Summit Spring.

Officials say the Bear Fire is burning in the vicinity of the Hinchley Fire.

Firefighters are working to suppress the fires and have determined them to be single snag photos.

At this time no evacuations have been ordered.
