4 killed in plane crash near Silver City

SILVER CITY, N.M. (KRQE) – Four people were killed in a plane crash near Silver City Friday.

According to New Mexico State Police the small aircraft was attempting to land at the Whiskey Creek Airport.

Officials say the plane crashed and started a small grass fire that prompted the evacuation of a nearby trailer park.

The area will be secured overnight by NMSP so the Federal Aviation Administration can investigate the crash.

The victim’s identities have not been released.
