Hazardous tree removal closes NM campground

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Canjilon Lakes Campground in the Carson National Forest has been closed.

Tent caterpillars, root rot, other pests, wind and drought have killed many of the trees there causing a safety hazard.

For the next couple of weeks, district and forest personnel will be taking down hazardous trees to make the area safe again.

They are working as quickly as possible, but high winds have caused some delays.
