APS expected to vote on budget

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Public School board is expected to vote Wednesday on a proposed $690 million budget for next school year that includes $15 million for employee raises.

The district and the teacher’s union announced they’ve agreed to a $2,000-per-year pay bump or 3 percent raise – whichever is greater.

Also part of the budget is millions of dollars to hire 80 teachers.

The number of new hires could change, though, depending on enrollment.
