Shot carjacking victim expected to survive

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – News 13 is learning more about Monday’s carjacking that left the victim shot.

That man told police 19-year-old Alexander Silva pulled a gun on him near Unser and I-40 Monday demanding his SUV then shot him in the leg and took off in the vehicle.

Silva and 23-year-old Anthony Chavez, were arrested driving the stolen vehicle near Central and Unser.

According to the criminal complaint, Silva claims he didn’t mean to fire his gun.

He’s facing several charges including aggravated robbery and battery.

Chavez is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
