PORTALES, N.M. (KRQE) – More problems for an eastern New Mexico courthouse.
High temperatures Monday cleared out the ninth judicial district court in Portales.
A judge complained about the unbearable temperatures in the courtroom due to a broken air conditioning system.
She says temperatures hit near 100 degrees in the clerk’s office and 90 in the courtroom.
Jury selection and trials are cancelled for the rest of the week while they try and fix the a/c.
Two weeks ago, the courthouse was closed to clean out 8 types of toxic mold found inside the building.
