FBI searches for suspect in pipe bomb explosions

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The FBI and the Albuquerque Police Department are asking for the public’s help tracking down information on the person or people responsible for pipe bomb explosions in northeast Albuquerque between October 2013 and March 2014.

Three of the pipe bombs exploded in city parks, a fourth in a parking lot, and a fifth behind a business, the FBI says.

No injuries were reported, but the FBI says pipe bombs can be very dangerous.

Vehicles seen in the area during the time of the explosions include a silver, two-door sports vehicle with a spoiler and a turquoise New Mexico license plate, and a white, 1990s model four-door sedan.

The FBI says all of the pipe bombs exploded in or near trash cans.

Those with information are asked to call 505-889-1300. Online tips can also be submitted at https://tips.fbi.gov.
