Neighbor dispute leads to murder investigation

HOBBS, N.M. (KRQE) – Hobbs police are investigating a murder that apparently started as a dispute between neighbors.

It happened Sunday at a home on the 200 block of South Avenue B.

Investigators say several men were fighting and at one point beer bottles and a gun got pulled out, leaving 27-year-old Jose Meza shot.

Police arrested 61-year-old Enrique Carmona.

Carmona is charged with an open count of murder and aggravated assault.

It’s unclear what started the fight.
