Mark’s Monday Evening Weather Report

This should be a very exciting weather week across New Mexico. Winds will crank up on Tuesday with gusts up to 40 miles an hour in eastern and central sections of the state. The chance for showers will be off the board through Tuesday as dry air remains in place.

Big changes set up on Wednesday. Moisture will begin to creep into the east side of the state where we could pick up severe thunderstorms through Wednesday evening.

The moisture will continue to march west into central sections of the state on Thursday including the Albuquerque metro area. An isolated storm is definitely not out of the question during the day on Thursday.

Low-pressure which will be churning to our west will eventually head toward the state late Friday and throughout the weekend. As the storm pushes through many areas especially the east will see a renewed chance for more showers.

Take a look at model estimates of what we expect for rainfall. The east side of the state could pick up over an inch of rain and here in central sections a half-inch remains very possible. Stay tuned should be an exciting week! provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
