Dixon Apple Orchard lease taken over

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Dixon Apple Orchard is officially no more.

The land commissioner confirms that Cochiti Pueblo has taken over the lease to the land where the once flourishing orchard sat.

Visiting the orchard during harvest each year was a tradition for many New Mexico families, but most of the orchard was washed away in the floods of 2011.

The Mullane family, which ran the orchard tried many times to revive it, but it just wasn’t to be.

The land commissioners say the pueblo has not yet said what they will do with the property.

The area does have a great deal of historical and religious significant to them.
