40 people displaced due to apartment fire

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Forty people are waking up somewhere other than their apartment building at 425 Western Skies.

Heavy smoke and flames were pouring from the third floor late last night.

Fire crews took immediate action, performing searches while aggressively battling the blaze.

It turns out the burning apartment was vacant and crews quickly put out the fire.

But smoke damage and loss of gas and electricity forced residents to find other accommodations.

The Red Cross is helping out. There’s no word on what caused the fire.
