Crews fight off small wildfire

CLOUDCROFT, N.M. (KRQE) – A new wildfire popped up Sunday in the Lincoln National Forest about five miles southeast of Cloudcroft.

The good news is firefighters were able to keep the Chippeway Fire relatively small.

The fire began a little before 11 a.m. next to a roadway.

It is already in mop-up stage. No structures were threatened.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
