Drug smugglers arrested at NM border

Drug smugglers stopped at NM border

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Drug smugglers were stopped in their tracks near a New Mexico port of entry this weekend, and it was all caught on video.

Their illegal load was worth almost $5 million. Border patrol officials say it happened Friday when a truck crossed from Mexico into New Mexico illegally near the Santa Teresa port.

A helicopter captured video and was part of the bust.

Agents tried to pull the truck over, but the driver didn’t stop. The truck tried to get back to Mexico, but the rough terrain damaged it which forced it to stop.

That’s when people in the truck took off running. Agents caught and arrested 14 people.
