WIPP employees worried about jobs

CARLSBAD, N.M. (KRQE) – Some employees at WIPP are worried about keeping their jobs.

A top official said last week it may take up to three years for the plant to resume normal operations following the February radiation leak.

At this point, the source of the leak still hasn’t been identified and the plant remains shutdown.

According to the Carlsbad Current Argus some workers have expressed concern that their jobs are not guaranteed, and worry about WIPP opening back up at all.

Right now about 1200 employees work at WIPP.

Many have been helping identify the source of the leak and all continue to get a paycheck.
