John’s Friday Afternoon Forecast

It’s shaping up to be a nice weekend, but it will be warm. In fact by Sunday it may even feel hot! As temperatures continue to warm this weekend, we soar to well above average with some of the warmest weather we’ve seen so far this year. Highs in the southeast will soar into the upper 90s to near 100°. Even Albuquerque will be pushing 90° by Sunday.

A storm is still expected to sit to the west early next week. This will increase our winds late Sunday through at least Wednesday. The wind, warm temperatures, and dry conditions will spell increased fire danger across much of the state.

By Wednesday it appears some moisture will get pulled into the east. If enough moisture can get drawn in, it will help with the fire concerns with better chances at showers. However, if only a limited amount of moisture moves into the east, there may be enough to support storms, but no rain. The concern with this scenario will be dry lightning. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
