Autopsy results released for woman shot by APD

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The autopsy report for the 19-year-old woman shot by an APD officer last month is in.

It shows she was shot three times and was very high on meth.

Police say they were looking for a car thief in the area of Zuni and Wyoming on April 21st when they encountered Mary Hawkes.

An officer says Hawkes then pulled out a gun and pointed it right at him, so he fired.

That officer, Jeremy Dear, shot Hawkes three times, according to an autopsy report.

The medical investigator says Hawkes was shot once in the head, once in the chest and once in the shoulder.

It also shows that Hawkes had very high levels of meth in her system.

Hawkes, had been arrested several times before this incident.

She is the daughter of Belen Magistrate Judge Danny Hawkes.

The shooting remains under investigation.
