Prehistoric shark found in Manzano Mountains

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – An amazing discovery was made in the Manzano Mountains, the fossil of a pre-historic shark was found.

The fossil belongs to what is known as a comb spine shark and was discovered last year but has just recently been identified.

This is a picture of what the animal looked like.

It’s the first type of this shark to ever be found in New Mexico and it’s the first time a complete body of this type of shark has been found in North America.

Friday a CT scan will be performed on the fossil at a local hospital to provide a more complete view of the internal brain case and we’ll get to get video of it for the first time. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
