Shelter selling wristbands for abused animals

SANTA FE (KRQE) – You can now buy wristbands in memory of Raphael the extremely emaciated dog found in Pojoaque back in October.

When Raphael arrived at the Santa Fe Animal Shelter, he weighed only 45 pounds.

He once gained enough weight he lived in a foster home but was diagnosed with cancer and died in March.

Now you can buy these wristbands that say Remember Raphael.

The shelter is asking for at least a $10 donation for a wristband.

The proceeds will go to The Raphael Fund which was set up to help injured, abused, or neglected animals.

If you are interested you can mail a check to the Santa Fe Animal Shelter and they will send you a bracelet. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
