Man facing child abuse charges in daughter’s death

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – A Rio Rancho man is facing charges for the death of his 3-year-old daughter.

He claims it happened when they were playing a game.

Jay Chee Hood, 35, took his daughter to the hospital last Wednesday after she started bleeding from the mouth.

Doctors determined she had multiple injuries to her brain including a large bleed.

She was pronounced brain dead the next day.

Chee claims the girl was injured while they were playing the body slam game.

He says he would throw his kids on the bed and the girl, named Addelina fell on the floor.

However, doctors classified the injuries as non-accidental.

Chee is now facing a charge of negligent child abuse resulting in death and faces 18 years in prison if convicted.
