Man wanted in Texas murder for hire extradited

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A man arrested in Albuquerque for trying to have a Lubbock lawman killed has been extradited back to Texas.

U.S. Marshals caught Adam Rico at a motel near Coors and I-40 last week.

He’s accused of hiring another man to kill a sheriff’s deputy who had arrested him on drug and gun charges last month.

Texas officials say Rico and the suspected assassin belong to the same gang.

Rico’s jailed on a $5 million bond. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
