Showers will continue today as the storm continues to work out of the state. Most shower activity will remain across the Northern Mountains and northeast this afternoon. Most of it will be in the form of rain, but some mountain snow will continue at the higher elevations. It will be much colder statewide this afternoon with afternoon highs running 20° – 25° below average.
This cold air mass is going to lead to a cold night. Many areas from the Rio Grande Valley to the north will be near or just below freezing tonight. After a cold start Wednesday, temperatures will start to slowly recover. Temperatures stay below average through Thursday, then warm to well above average this weekend. Expect highs to reach the mid to upper 80s in Albuquerque on Saturday and Sunday.
The warm temperatures continue into early next week, but another storm will be nearing New Mexico as well, increasing winds and fire weather concerns.
