City council considers Rio Grande project

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A city councilor’s plan to pull millions of dollars dedicated to changes along the Rio Grande and pump it into parks is moving forward.

ABQ the Plan has been a focus of the mayor’s office for several years.

Among the ideas, create a sprawling area along the Rio Grande with more activities and amenities.

But city councilor Diane Gibson says money for that project should be used to fix up local parks.

That resolution was discussed at the council’s finance committee meeting Monday night.

It will now go on to the full council for consideration.

The mayor’s office is not happy with Gibson’s idea and plans to fight it.
