Councilor wants adjustments to ABQ the Plan

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – City Councilor Diane Gibson is about to raise the stakes in the ongoing debate surrounding Mayor R.J. Berry’s vision for ABQ the Plan – specifically proposing improvements along the Rio Grande.

Gibson is sponsoring a resolution to take the remaining $2 million in the plan’s budget and instead use it to improve existing parks and city facilities.

Gibson says with the current economy, the city needs to be careful with where to invest.

The mayor’s chief of staff told KRQE News 13 they will work with Gibson to ensure funding for ABQ the Plan and existing city facilities. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
