ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Although no player from either NMSU or UNM heard their name called in the 2014 NFL draft, five players will have a chance to make an NFL roster as free agents. The Aggies have three players signing free agent deals. OL Davonte Wallace (Miami), LB Trashaun Nixon (New Orleans), and WR Austin Franklin (St.Louis) all inked deals to head to camp. Franklin says he’s excited for the chance to play in St. Louis because the front office did not draft any wide receivers in the draft.
For the Lobos, two of the six draft-eligible players signed free agent deals. Offensive Linemen Darryl Johnson, and Dillon Farrell will both head to California to make an NFL roster. Johnson signed with the San Diego Chargers, and Farrell will head to the city by the bay to try and make the San Francisco 49ers roster.
