Suspect in Saturday chase behind bars

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The driver in a wild chase that led to three separate crashes made his way to jail Sunday morning after spending several hours at the hospital.

The chase ended with Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputies pulling Adrien Roybal out of his car after he slammed his car into a power pole.

The department says it started around 5 p.m. Saturday when a deputy tried to pull over Roybal for driving recklessly near 4th and Candelaria.

Instead, he sped off with a woman and three kids inside.

Two deputies crashed into other vehicles during the pursuit.

After Roybal’s car crashed into a power pole he was taken into custody and hauled off to the hospital to be checked out.

Now he’s locked up at MCD, charged with child abuse.

Roybal was wanted on parole violations.
