Future of Indian Market up in the air

SANTA FE (KRQE) – Santa Fe’s biggest tourist attraction is also attracting concerns about whether the event will continue.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reports people are worried the annual Santa Fe Indian Market in August will be negatively impacted by shorter work weeks, reduced benefits and staff resignations.

The company sponsoring the event has employees working a four-day week this year.

Some employees quit and announced the creation of a different arts market the same weekend.

Tourism officials say the Indian Market brings in about $140 million to the city.
