Baby in suspected child abuse case dies

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The baby in a suspected child abuse case has died and that could up the charges against her father.

Albuquerque police say on April 16, 22-year-old Stefon Miller called 911 saying the 3-month-old was unconscious and having trouble breathing.

Miller told officers he had been playing with the baby by tossing her in the air and catching her. Police say he later admitted to shaking her out of frustration.

Doctors say she suffered a brain bleed.

Miller is still in jail. He was charged with child abuse. The district attorney’s office will now decide if the charges will be upgraded.
