NM water levels up despite drought

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Despite the states severe drought the parks department says New Mexico is open for business.

The state says reservoir and river levels are actually up this year.

In some areas the difference from last year is significant.

Park officials are urging people to come out and enjoy all New Mexico has to offer.

“Despite the drought New Mexico is absolutely open for business and a wonderful place to plan your summer vacation and invite your friends and family to come visit,” Tourism Department Secretary Monique Jacobson said.

But New Mexico is still under a significant wildfire threat across the state so be mindful when dealing with fire.
