SF permit office fails to pull permit for project

SANTA FE (KRQE) – The office that handles building permits for the City of Santa Fe, failed to pull permits for its own construction project and it’s going to cost taxpayers extra.

A city spokeswoman says they were doing a simple remodel in the land use department, converting a conference room to offices, when they suddenly got a call from the state regulation and licensing department asking where their permits were.

The spokeswoman says it was all a big misunderstanding and the project is now suspended.

Because of the delay, permit costs and other issues the $17,000 project is now going to cost another $6,000.

As for the fact that this was the very office that handles building permits and often fines others for failing to get them a porter says that is a complete coincidence and the people in the office had nothing to do with the project or pulling the permits.
