Mother of teen accused of murder indicted

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A grand jury says there is enough evidence against an accused killers’ mother to take her to trial.

Thursday they indicted Loretta Villalobos on charges of negligent child abuse resulting in death and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

She’s the mother of 15-year-old Brandon Villalobos, the Valencia County teen accused of murdering his friend.

Loretta is accused of failing to get help for her son known for violent outbursts at home and school.

And prosecutors allege that lack of action contributed to the death of 13-year-old Alex Madrid whom Brandon is accused of beating to death in a field in February.

The indictment comes on the same day Madrid’s autopsy report was released

While Brandon claims he only hit his friend once, the autopsy report says differently.

Investigators say they found multiple fractures and punctures in Madrid’s face and scalp, at least one tooth knocked out.

Trauma to his chest along with severe bleeding around the eyes, showing possible strangulation was also found according to the report.

The district attorney’s office decided to go after Brandon’s mother, because they say she had an obligation to her son and Madrid which she failed to fulfill.

Loretta Villalobos bonded out of jail this morning.

Brandon remains locked up.
