KAFB engineer a medal finalist

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A senior engineer from Kirtland Air Force Base is now a finalist for the 2014 Service to America medal.

Richard Rast is one of 33 finalists. He created a new, less expensive way to track and locate space debris that could damage spacecrafts and satellites.

The Service to America medals are awarded to federal employees who make important contributions to health, safety and human welfare.
